Training Report
I arrived at the gym quite early. While waiting for the class to start, I tried to engage the coach in some friendly conversation, but he responded with closed answers, almost as if he felt attacked. I asked if he had been there all day, recalling that last time he mentioned staying because it was raining and he was on foot. Since it had been stormy and raining again today, he confirmed he stayed, adding after a moment, “especially with the rain.” When I asked if he knew if the club in Auxonne was still open, he answered curtly that it had been closed for a long time.
Unfortunately, the coach then paired us up by height. There were five students: a young foreigner who has been hanging around me, another tall young man, a young woman, a disabled man, and myself. Since I am the same height as the disabled student, I was paired with him for the entire session. The coach (about 1m58) paired himself with the young woman (about 1m60). We realized there were four southpaws in total: the coach, the two new guys, and me. This flustered the coach; when we voiced our discovery, he thought we were questioning his pairings and felt the need to reassert that height-based pairing is justified.
He then proceeded to give the girl a private lesson. He lent her his gloves, noting that he wasn’t training himself. Over the two-hour session—excluding the long warm-up, the scorpion poses and the cool-down at the end, and —she received full one-on-one instruction. He demonstrated about four different combinations without ever explaining breathing or foot placement. He only checked on the rest of us once spontaneously; a second time was only because my partner called him over. In total, he spent about three minutes with my partner and me. He did the same for the other duo, spending the rest of the time complimenting the girl and showing her variations of the sequences. Since he wasn’t training, she ended up practicing twice as much as the rest of us.
Furthermore, my partner had a noticeable body odor. I had already mentioned it to him last week and took the liberty of pointing it out again. The coach had actually turned on the fans from the very beginning. Spending over an hour eye-to-eye with a partner who was stuck on a loop and only understood a third of what was shown, without any moral support, was discouraging. Since this is the second time it has happened, I don’t think I’ll go back. I’m currently looking into buying a heavy bag to hang between two trees instead.

Yesterday was a very successful day for my creative practice. I spent three hours illustrating the story of Saf and Patosh, a couple of mites. Despite the lack of professional tasks, focusing on this specific theme made the day feel inspired and allowed me to get ahead on my artistic projects.

I got enough sleep but was caught off guard by Ascension Thursday. Everything was closed, so I stayed at BK and got a veggie Whopper meal and a muffin. I headed back a little earlier. I couldn’t work in the morning because all my batteries were dead. I stayed in my tent for six hours, and I don’t really know what I did. I spent a good fifteen minutes watching the anthill being built next to my bike. I didn’t find the time to make any money on Prolific. On top of that, I took my phone with me in the evening, so I didn’t get to bed until 2:20 AM… Nevertheless, it was a good day because I made progress on my mite drawings, even though I only posted the result to my BaaS boss at 11:58 PM.

Following the Acension holiday, I was too lazy to go to the gym, especially since it was supposed to be a Thai boxing class day and therefore the room where I train would be taken. So I just went to BK to recharge my laptop batteries and power bank and went back home.
