Monday
I quit coffee today. As a result, I slept for 10 hours since the cat woke me up around 6 a.m. and then I went back to sleep at 7 a.m. I got quite a bit of work on Prolific and consequently stayed sitting on the floor on my deflated mattress without getting up. I hurt my backside so much that I couldn’t sit on it by the evening; therefore, I went to bed and fell asleep at 10:30 p.m.
I went to do some laundry.
Tuesday
Still no coffee. The cat woke me up around 4:40 a.m., so I slept for 6 hours because I had gone to bed early. For once, I went straight to the gym at 9:30 a.m. I took a shower and did a workout session of over 2 hours. I had to take a Doliprane in the morning because my backside was still hurting from the day before. I spent the afternoon at McDonald’s working on animation, among other things.
Wednesday
Woke up at 9 a.m. after 7 hours of sleep. Today was grocery shopping day. Lately, I’ve been looking back at my whole university journey. I’m checking out what everyone has been up to, professors and students alike, which inevitably leads me back to Bertrand, the most brilliant of them all. I therefore started the day like this, asking to dissect every single interaction with B. from 25 years ago.
At 10:40 a.m., I realized I had an interview to earn £20 from 11 a.m. to noon. Since I ran into a whole bunch of technical issues, it ran over until 12:12 p.m. Afterward, I debriefed with Gemini. I felt a bit useless because of all those technical problems—the sound wasn’t working on Teams on my laptop, then the internet disconnected on my phone, and I closed the app after clicking the wrong button—and also because of my answer when she asked me who my target client was, and I replied that I didn’t know yet.
I then ate and continued chatting about my university past with Gemini. I did a bit of cleaning to find my power bank and dry my mattress, as I had let a water bottle leak on the floor. I thought about doing my grocery shopping on Carrefour Drive, but it’s about 13 km away to pick it up, so I decided against it and went to Marcel Bio and Intermarché instead. Afterward, I ate sitting on a curb behind a store—some tofu and almond squares. I spent the rest of the evening at BK to do 2 hours of creative work, but I received more work from Prolific. In total, I earned £20 + $15.
Thursday
I woke up around 9 a.m. Surprisingly, the cat hadn’t begged for food earlier. I spent the morning making my snacks for the week. After that, I wanted to go to the gym earlier and flip my usual schedule, but I started putting away the laundry from the previous wash. While storing the snacks, I also reorganized my plastic bins. I brought inside two plastic tubs that were under the tarp to put them under the vestibule. In the end, I stopped by BK before going to the gym; as a result, I arrived very late and didn’t have time to do anything. I didn’t lock my phone in its prison, so I ended up going to bed quite late too.
Friday
Friday was a day off from the gym; I had slept well and went to BK early, around 2:50 PM. I worked on my GSAP animation while drinking a sugar-free Fanta; before that, I had drank plenty of matcha in the morning.
I added an asterionella to the aquatic scene, which spins and drifts slowly at the same time; even though the asterionella was pixelated, it created an effect that satisfied me so much that I bit my finger with satisfaction before leaving around 7:00 PM and heading home.
Besides, I didn’t eat much
Saturday
I fell asleep early on Friday night around 10:15 PM; maybe the heatwave had worn me out. But I woke up 1 hour and 15 minutes later at 11:37 PM and stayed awake for 4 hours until 3:37 AM, watching fascinating true crime videos on YouTube because I had my phone with me. It was the story of a dentist who poisoned his wife over several days by putting potassium cyanide in her morning shake.
On top of that, I was woken up by my cat at dawn just an hour later. In the end, I only got 5 hours of sleep.
After this terrible night, I became conscious of my addiction and of the real effect of blue light, and vowed to put my phone in jail every night.
I went to the gym but only did lower back stretches because I recently blocked my left quadratus lumborum.
I went straight back to my tent after the gym. I thought about working, but I didn’t do anything. Is that surprising given the lack of sleep? I put my phone in jail on the way, and I decided to restart Cold Turkey Blocker at 12:45 AM. I added Codepen and GitHub to the exceptions list. I went to bed immediately once YouTube was no longer accessible on the laptop.
The temperature reached 35 degrees that day. That might have affected me as well.
Sunday
I had put my phone in its jail on the previous night and the cold turkey blockers were activated on my laptop, so on Sunday morning, I worked on my blog on my computer for about an hour before heading into town. I arrived at the air-conditioned BK at 3:00 PM and got a Snickers King Fusion. It was a heatwave. Outside, it was 35°C. I only spent 3 hours in the AC before the music became unbearable. I didn’t have my good headphones with me. I preferred to leave and went back to my tent, where it was over 30°C. I bypassed the Cold Turkey block by changing the time on Windows. I fanned myself with a cardboard A4 folder while watching true crime – Explore with Us – the whole night until 2 AM. In total, I worked for about 2.5 to 3 hours on my WordPress blog. I added the cookie consent, created a summary pattern, uploaded several illustrations, and created the summaries and excerpts for every post since May.
